What's the Difference Between 3D and 4D Ultrasounds?

A 3D ultrasound will provide you with still pictures of your baby in a three dimensional view, while a 4D ultrasound adds in the element of motion. Both ultrasound methods will provide you with a very clear image of your baby, enabling you to see fingers, toes, and facial expressions.

How Safe is an Elective Ultrasound for my Baby?

In use for over 40 years, ultrasound technology has been perfected as the practice has expanded. Studies have found no harmful effects to the mother or the baby. An ultrasound performed by Peek a Boo Baby 3D/4D Imaging is every bit as safe as an ultrasound performed at your doctor’s office.

Is it safe to do a 3D/4D ultrasound?

Ultrasound uses sound waves, this has been used in clinical applications for over fifty years. There is NO exposure to radiation with ultrasound.

Are the ultrasound technicians at Peek a boo baby certified?

Yes, the owners/sonographers at Peek a boo baby imaging are graduates from Sanford Brown Institute. An ARDMS accredited school.

What determines good quality images?

There are many factors beyond our control that contribute to image quality. The position of the baby, the umbilical cord, the location of the placenta and fetal limbs can interfere with getting good quality ultrasound photos. Amniotic fluid is also a very important factor when trying to obtain good quality ultrasound photos. It’s important for every expectant mother to understand that your ultrasound picture might not look like someone elses. Everyone is different and scans differently. The best way to prepare yourself for an ultrasound is to drink a lot of water. Hydration is very important for many reasons especially in pregnancy.

Do I need an appointment?

We book by appointment only. We are conveniently open five days a week and ask all our clients to please give 24 hour notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

Can I bring family & friends?

Yes, we encourage all clients to bring family and friends to be apart of such a special experience. Our studio can comfortably fit up to twelve people.

When is the best time to find out the gender (sex) of my baby?

We start gender scans at 14+ weeks. If we cannot determine your baby’s gender at the time of your appointment we bring you back free of charge.

When is the best time to have a 3D/4/D ultrasound?

We recommend our clients come in starting at 28+ weeks. 3D/4D ultrasounds can be done up to 38 weeks. Please keep in mind the bigger the baby gets the harder it can be to obtain good quality photos.

Is there anything I can do to improve the quality of my 3D/4D images?

Yes, women who drink a lot of water during pregnancy usually have more amniotic fluid which can help us on obtaining clear/good quality images. We recommend that women speak to their obstetricians on how much daily water intake is recommended for them during their pregnancy.

Will a refund be provided if my images are not clear?

Unfortunately refunds are not given. Image quality varies from person to person. Images being poor quality are not due to the 3D/4D technology or our staff. There are many contributing factors that determine image quality.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Peek-A-Boo baby! The technicians were warm and friendly and they did everything they could to make our experience amazing. The room is lit dimly and it makes for an intimate experience while viewing your loved one. They took as long as we needed to feel satisfied and were patient while baby moved around.
